Al-Ahly Sporting Club - Tripoli also known as Al-Ahly Tripoli, is a Libyan football club based in Tripoli, Libya. It is the second most successful Libyan club in history, winning 12 Libyan Premier League titles, 6 Libyan Cup titles, and twice the Libyan
Super Cup.
The club crest consists of a green and white background with a flame placed on the map of Libya. The torch aims to express the independence of the country, which was achieved only months after the founding of the club. The club's
logo changed after winning the Libyan League title for the tenth time in 2000, so a star was placed at the top.
The club won its first national championship in the 1967-68 season, but then struggled for seven years until its next victory in 1970-71. The club won two of the next three titles and secured the last title before the league was abolished
in 1977-78. The team reached the final of the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1984, but withdrew from facing Al-Ahly of Egypt, as the bad Libyan relationship with Egypt at that time prevented Libyan clubs from facing Egyptian clubs.
